Frequently Asked Questions

What is openlogger?

openlogger is an online archive of web pages that have specifically been requested to be saved. Some pages may exist multiple times in the archive however the versions of the page are likely to be different depending on how often the saved page is changed by the owner. This may be useful for recording information which may dissapear on a page as a historical record of how a page looked at a specific time.

How does openlogger work?

Just as you can request any page in your browser and view it on your computer openlogger does the same but keeps a copy of the original HTML on our server as a record of the request. Adding a page to the archive is as simple as filling out the form on the Add URL page.

Can I archive any page?

At the moment all pages which are available on the Internet are able to be archived assuming the page is visible without logging on to the website.

Are page attachments (eg. images) also archived?

Only the HTML content of a page is saved in the archive. This means that over time older pages will appear without images/style sheets as the hosting server will likely remove these files. There is no plan in the foreseeable future to archive this attached content.
